About Power Audits

Power Audits consist of inspecting the ac and dc service and distribution system as listed below:

    AC Power

        1. Inspect the Service Entrance Panel for violations, loose connections, circuit breaker ratings, conductor sizing and Grounding.

        2. Inspect the ac Distribution Panel that feeds the DC Power Plant rectifiers and or UPS system for violations.

        3. Inspect the ac outlets for violations such as reversals or open grounds.

        4. Check inverters if used.

        5. Check surge protection devices (TVSS) units.

        6. Measure the voltage and current loads.

        7. Check for hot spots using infrared scanning device.

        8. Inspect the Transfer Switch for any National Electrical Code violations.

        9. Inspect the Standby Generator for proper Grounding.

    DC Power

        1. Inspect the dc Power Plant.

        2. Check all rectifiers for ac and dc connections including grounding.

        3. Check rectifiers for on-line settings from a dead start up.

        4. Check dc voltage and current load at each rectifier and compare with dc power panel monitor.

        5. Check overall dc load and voltage at the dc power plant monitor panel.

        6. Testing of the standby batteries using a Midtronics Celltron Conductance Battery Test Set. Check results of test with reference standard for type of battery being used.

        7. Check the Grounding of the dc Power Plant frame/bays. Measure for dc current on the power plants ground conductor and record.
