Surge Protection

Surge Protection Devices are necessary in today's digital world. Transients generated by electrical storms or power grid switching and capacitor bank discharges can destroy sensitive electronic circuits. Even power surges within the building are dangerous to equipment. Data and or signal circuits associated with the outside world can be a path for damaging surge currents to flow to the equipment.

To help protect equipment and data circuits, surge protection devices are recommended at the Service Disconnect means and also at downstream distribution, even on the data line and outlets that feed equipment.

Quality, USA built protection is available from several manufactures that we recommend and we are willing to assist in designing this type of protection for your facility. Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV) and Silicone Avalanche Diodes (SAD) or a combination thereof is the normal modes of protection.

Remember that surge protection devices (SPD) require a good ground to operate. No matter how expensive the SPD is, without a good ground they will not function.
